ZETA OMEGA CHAPTER HISTORY

Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. became the seventh alumnae chapter of the Sorority when it was chartered on April 28, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware. The charter members were initiated into the sorority under the sponsorship of Epsilon Omega Chapter, Baltimore, Maryland.

The members of Zeta Omega have proudly upheld the purpose and traditions of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in providing service to all mankind. The impact of Zeta Omega’s contributions and positive impact in Wilmington and New Castle County, DE has been realized through activities such as:

  • Providing scholarships to high school seniors

  • Establishing mentor and tutorial programs in the school districts of New Castle County, DE

  • Supporting the homeless through the YWCA Home Life Management Program

  • Donating to the Sunday Breakfast Mission and Emmanuel Dining Hall

  • Coordinating Minority Cancer Awareness Week Program/Colorectal Cancer Screening Project

  • Providing activities that support the senior population of New Castle County, DE

  • Donating food baskets to families at Thanksgiving and Christmas

  • Participation in Habitat for Humanity

  • Hosting, Support and Fundraising for the Annual Sickle Cell Tennis Classic
